Why does Netflix still have black bars when I try to stretch it?
This happens because Chromium-based browsers (like Edge and Chrome) enforce strict Digital Rights Management (DRM) protocols that block extensions from natively stretching the video feed.
For the best ultra-wide experience, we strongly recommend using Firefox with hardware acceleration disabled in the browser settings. This combination allows FrameTune to stretch the video flawlessly while maintaining crisp 1080p quality. While you can also disable hardware acceleration in Edge or Chrome to bypass the block, doing so typically forces Netflix to downgrade your video resolution to 720p.
Is there any way to stretch Netflix in Edge or Chrome?
Since the extension is blocked by DRM in these browsers, the only current workaround is to manually change your computer's system aspect ratio/resolution before watching a movie. We know changing this every time is tedious.

How do I access the FrameTune settings?
Once installed, simply click the "puzzle piece" extension icon in the top right of your browser and pin FrameTune to your toolbar. Clicking the FrameTune icon will open the settings menu where you can instantly configure your preferred stretch modes, binge settings, and more!

When I zoom in on my ultrawide, my subtitles get cut off. Does FrameTune fix this?
Yes! This is a common problem with built-in monitor zoom features. FrameTune solves this completely with our Smart Subtitles technology. It dynamically repositions the subtitles back into view so they are always perfectly readable, no matter how much you stretch or zoom the video.
Why do I get black bars on all 4 sides of the video? (Windowboxing)
This frustrating issue occurs because streaming platforms often place 21:9 cinematic movies inside a standard 16:9 container, embedding black bars into the video itself. When your ultrawide monitor displays that 16:9 container, it adds vertical bars on the sides, resulting in a small box in the middle of your screen. FrameTune aggressively crops and scales the true video feed to fill your monitor edge-to-edge.
Can I just use the official Windows App for Netflix instead of this?
While the official Netflix Windows App allows for 4K streaming, it does not solve the ultrawide aspect ratio problem. It will still windowbox your movies. FrameTune (via Firefox) or our upcoming Desktop Player is required to actually fix the aspect ratio and remove the black bars.
